Why Am I Depressed?

Stress

It’s a good question. It’s also a question a lot of people are asking themselves these days. Why am I depressed?

I speak from experience when I say I know there are a lot of different factors that causes depression.  From finances to loss of a loved one, health issues, stress, relationships… this list is very long.

I also know the best think you can do is to find the cause of your depression so you can accept that fact and try to face it.

Why am I Depressed?

You can start by asking yourself this question!  Dig deep when your trying to figure it out.  It’s best to sit down with a pen and paper and start writing down everything that is bothering you.  After you get a list of everything that is bothering you then you can start to work on all the problems one by one.  BUT!!!! Remember that even though it may seem rough right now, it will get better! I promise you that! I know it may seem like your falling into a hole and you can’t stop, but when you hit rock bottom…. the only way to go is up!  So… Lets take a look into the different reasons you may be depressed…

Mental Stress

I believe this is one of the main things that cause depression… Just stressed about EVERYTHING! How to fix it? Well when I find myself stressing like crazy I usually turn to the things that make me feel good whether it’s visiting and talking to family or listening to something that enforces positive thought.  Reading and watching positive and inspirational books and movies is also recommended!  I know a lot of people will bring up recent events from the news and I’m in the dark with it because 99% of the time I don’t watch the news because its too negative.  You need to focus on the positive things in your daily routine!  If you don’t then you will fall in to the trap of the negative mindset.  May I suggest a Tony Robbins video every now and then… It helps me and maybe it will help you!

Recent loss of Someone You Love!

I speak from recent experience as the greatest man I ever knew passed away back in march…My Dad! It’s rough but you have to think about the positive things when stuff like this happens.  Instead of thinking about him being gone… we would think about the good times we had and how he always told jokes or made jokes out of the negative things.  You have to find the positive in everything that you do.  I still miss him and yes, it is hard not having him here but at the same time it’s the little things that he use to do to make us all laugh that we still think about to stay positive about the situation… you have to as well!

Relationship Stress

Or in my case… lack thereof …lol  When you’re stressed about your relationship there is only one thing you can do… Talk to them.  There may be something one of you are not doing the way you use to do.  It may be something small to them which is big to you or vice versa.  Remember that Relationship Stress is just another minor factor that may seem big but, you have look at the whole picture.  For those of you stressed because your better half just walked out on you and you are worried about “Why Me?” Keep in mind that if that person left you …. then you are probably better off with out them.  I know you’re probably hearing that from everywhere else but I had to say it too!  Also, if your having issues in your relationship I strongly suggest to seek counseling and let a professional tell you what to do …. I am not a professional … :)

Financial Stress

Yeah I know,  The Economy is bad right now.  (I’ll speak on that another time on cjhallock.com) For this topic I’ll say a phrase I can almost guarantee all of us has heard … “If there is a will there is a way” … I’m serious! There are many things you can do to change your financial situation … the biggest thing to do is focus on the positive (do you see the routine yet?…lol) I strongly suggest a quick read … 1 book a week for a month… week 1. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki … week 2.  Think and Grow Rich by Nepoleon Hill (I’m working on getting this one as a download for you guys) week 3.   As a Man Thinketh by James Allen(Grab this one in the Free Ebooks Section) and week 4.  Crush It “Why Now is the Time to Cash In on your Passion” by Gary Vaynerchuck …

After reading those 4 books you will have a different mindset about your financial situation or maybe you wont but either way you will see a different way to look at the financial situation.  I also strongly suggest looking into a mastermind group … whether it’s locally or even if you find people to talk to online (facebook, twitter, etc) I am open to chatting any time if anyone has questions or wants to chat feel free to email me cj@cjhallock.com

I hope this helped you kind of find out the cause of your depression and hopefully help a little bit I just felt like covering some stuff randomly today cause of a few recent conversations I’ve had with some people so … there ya go! :)
