O.K. Now my original thoughts were to keep my religious thoughts off of this blog.
However, I believe it’s true that no matter what your religion is, you can still “Stay Boosted!”
But…Well…Here goes!
For those of you who don’t know already that my partner [Gary Anderson] aka “@GanderCo” is a Christian person and so is his family. I was over there today when his wife told a story that was shared earlier this morning in church and it sparked a thought about my past that I think should be shared!
(Disclaimer!: If your not into religion and don’t want to hear about this-then don’t read it. I promise not to be mad).
In my life I’ve been the poster child for going back and forth with religion not that I’ve planned on it but I was young and dumb!
As a child I didn’t know anything but being a Christian but I never truly led the life that I should have.
The story starts in November of ’01 I had just found a really close friend that showed me another side of “Christ” that I hadn’t seen (or paid attention to) and instantly it seemed as if my life had changed for the better. I didn’t make it to church but would consider myself a God fearing man. Then one day I got the phone call that a friend of mine had been murdered and turned my back to God.
It was about a year later I met my “adopted” family (well lets just say real close friends), and they got me going to church and I loved it but one thing led to another while I was on the ship (I was in the Navy) and against my power (I thought) I had hit rock bottom and I did not want to live!!
I attempted to turn to God but what others would see as a test of my “Faith” I took as a good push away from Him, and sadly started to wounder if there was a god and if there was, how could he allow people to go through pain and let young kids die for no reason and diseases and famine and the list goes on and on.
Then I came across a piece of paper (Author Unknown to me) with the best explanation for that-it read:
———————————————————————————————–
This is one of the best explanations of “Why God Allows Pain and Suffering” that I have seen. It’s an explanation that other people will understand.
A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.
They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: “I don’t believe that God exists.”
“Why do you say that?” asked the customer.
“Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn’t exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can’t imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.”
The customer thought for a moment, but didn’t respond because he didn’t want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.
The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: “You know what? Barbers do not exist.”
“How can you say that?” asked the surprised barber. “I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!”
“No!” the customer exclaimed. “Barbers don’t exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.”
“Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me.”
“Exactly!”- Affirmed the customer. “That’s the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens is, people don’t go to Him and do not look for Him. That’s why there’s so much pain and suffering in the world.”
