“No man is an island; No man stands alone.” This is a part of a saying that aptly reflects the importance of opening the mind to receive help in order to succeed.

Very few have made it to the top alone. Only few successful people made it to the top, on their own, without getting help from others.

So, whom can we turn to when we need help? Do not fret; there are a number of help lines available: Infinite Power, People, and Written Works. Continue Reading…

There are 5 things in life you cannot recover:

A stone……after it’s thrown.

A word…after it is said.

An occasion…after it’s missed.

The time…after it’s gone.

A person…after they die.

Life is short.Break the rules.Forgive quickly. Kiss slowly. Love truly. Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile..

The text above was put as a status on one of my “friends” walls on Facebook.  I read it and started to scroll down the page but my mind started wondering so I thought I would share!! Continue Reading…

Where Are You? – Here

What Time Is It? – Now

What Are You? – This Moment!

So tonight I sat down and watched “Peaceful Warrior” a Lionsgate Films Production.  But, unlike the other hundred times I watched it… I took notes of all the one line lessons delivered in this movie and boy was it a huge list.

Peaceful Warrior

A very inspiring movie starring Nick Nolte(48 Hours, Blue Chips), Amy Smart(The Butterfly Effect, Varsity Blues) and Scott Mechlowicz(Eurotrip).

A cocky college gymnast(Mechlowicz) looses everything in a motorcycle accident and follows the teachings of Socrates(Nolte) to find peace within himself.

Just a brief description of the movie(pretty good huh? I should do this for a living! …lol jk) Continue Reading…

It’s a good question. It’s also a question a lot of people are asking themselves these days. Why am I depressed?

I speak from experience when I say I know there are a lot of different factors that causes depression.  From finances to loss of a loved one, health issues, stress, relationships… this list is very long.

I also know the best think you can do is to find the cause of your depression so you can accept that fact and try to face it.

Why am I Depressed?

You can start by asking yourself this question!  Dig deep when your trying to figure it out.  It’s best to sit down with a pen and paper and start writing down everything that is bothering you.  After you get a list of everything that is bothering you then you can start to work on all the problems one by one.  BUT!!!! Remember that even though it may seem rough right now, it will get better! I promise you that! I know it may seem like your falling into a hole and you can’t stop, but when you hit rock bottom…. the only way to go is up!  So… Lets take a look into the different reasons you may be depressed… Continue Reading…

Volunteer the Stress Away

At times, it can seem as if you’re on a constant treadmill at work.  There are deadlines to meet, people to consult, relationships to cultivate.  You may feel as if you’re under consistent stress, but you don’t know how to manage it effectively.  You could always quit your job, but your next position might be just as stressful.

Stress can take a tremendous toll on both body and spirit.  It can leave you feeling fatigued, making it hard for you to concentrate.  You may be more susceptible to illness as a result of your stress, resulting in increased absenteeism from work.  You may be more prone to getting into accidents, and you may feel as if you’re on edge much of the time.

There are a number of strategies you can employ to deal with stress.  But perhaps one of the most rewarding is to engage in volunteer work.  There is something so comforting about donating your time to helping someone else.  The mere act can elevate your spirits, helping you to better cope with the stressors in your life.  You are giving a tremendous gift—the gift of your time and talent.  And you find your reward in the smiles on the faces of the people (or animals) you’ve assisted.

If you’re considering volunteering, you don’t want the search for volunteer opportunities to be stressful.  Therefore, you’ll want to make the process as simple as possible.  A good resource can be your local newspaper.  Often, the Sunday paper lists organizations that are looking for volunteers.  The newspaper usually provides complete contact information, so you won’t have to hunt around for a phone number.

Deciding which organization to volunteer for can be a challenge.  There are so many causes worthy of our attention.  For instance, there are groups that assist people in times of disaster…groups that lobby for research to find cures for debilitating diseases…homeless shelters…soup kitchens…and pet shelters.  You might also consider volunteering at a school, where teaching assistants and mentors are always appreciated.

In order to decide where to put your talents to use, you might ask yourself some questions.  For instance, how much time can you realistically devote to volunteer work?  Are you limited to doing your volunteering in the evenings or on weekends?  How much of your own money can you spend in connection with your volunteer work?  What causes are the most important to you?  The answers to these questions could help you to choose the volunteer opportunity that’s right for you.

Next, you’ll want to tour the volunteer facility.  You want to get a sense of whether you will enjoy the work.  If you find that the other volunteers are difficult to work with, it could simply produce more stress in your life.  Usually, an initial tour will help to give you a good idea of what it would be like to actually volunteer at the facility.  Also, be sure to find out if the organization offers training to its volunteers.  This could be quite important, especially if you have only a nodding acquaintance with the work of the organization.

Volunteering does require commitment, and you might be wondering if that commitment will add additional stress to your life.  Actually, the opposite will probably be true.  If you find yourself being energized by your volunteer work, you’ll be able to put your problems in better perspective.  Knowing the difficulties that other people face can make your troubles seem quite negligible in comparison.  However, you will want to make sure that you don’t overcommit.  Devote only a limited amount of time to your volunteer work, and resist the urge to do more.  Otherwise, you could find yourself exhausted by the end of the week and unable to perform well on your job.

Volunteering can be one of the great joys in life.  It is a privilege to serve other people, to make a difference in another person’s life.  Through your volunteer work, you’ll be able to meet people you might otherwise not have the opportunity to encounter.  You can forge friendships which can last a lifetime.  You’ll be contributing greatly to your neighborhood and your society, and your little corner of the world should be brighter because of it.

Setting Goals is a Must

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Have you ever questioned why some individuals are successful in life while other people are destined for averageness? Well a huge part of winning in life is to understand precisely what you want and taking ceaseless action toward accomplishing it.

Regrettably, most people don’t understand what they want. They appear rather clear about what they don’t want in life but they surely don’t know what they want. This is a huge lapse on their part. If you wish to win in life you have to understand precisely what you want. If you’re undefined and unsure about what you wish you’ll likely be distressed and unsuccessful in life.

For you to accomplish your goals you have to understand where you wish to go or be. At the same time you have to understand where you are at the moment. Only by recognizing these 2 all-important details, are you able to lead yourself in the correct direction. It’s the same as utilizing a map to reach a place. To set about where you wish to go, you have to understand where you are. In life you need to do the same.

Many good and industrious individuals wind up in unfulfilling lives as they don’t set goals for themselves. They let outside events prescribe the path of their lives. They respond to conditions in their life rather than masterminding conditions for their future benefit. With the bustle and fuss of daily life, they get caught up with the daily activities.

Make certain you design your future. If you fail to design, you design to fail. Don’t wake up one day and regret that life has passed by you. Goal setting is the vehicle that may metamorphose your life from an average one to a great one.

Take action today and set your goals to live a satisfying life.
